Raymond L. "Ray" Albright, 79, Altoona, passed away Thursday peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Justus and Margaret "Peg" (Marlett) Albright. He married Joyce Vaughn on June 19, 1957, in Hagerstown, Md.
Surviving are his wife; four sons: Raymond P., Randy C., Russell V. and Ryan J. (Joi); four grandchildren: Jessica, Rochelle, Dustin and Emily; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Vivian Bridgewater and husband, Jim, of San Dimas, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Beulah Vaughn; a brother-in-law, Ernie Rollason; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: Jack Weindler, Donald Weindler and Elton Albright.
Ray retired from Warnaco in 1979. He owned Albright's Personal Care Home and was part owner of Nitty Gritty Tavern and the R-Waffle King restaurant. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and the Bavarian Aid Society.
Ray loved to travel, build puzzles and spend time with his family. He will be warmly remembered by his family and friends for being a jokester and a loving husband and father.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, where a funeral service will be held at noon Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, Pastor Sean Teis officiating. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
