Joan E. Shoenfelt, 74, Willowick, Ohio, passed away Thursday in Willoughby, Ohio, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Geraldine Shuma.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, David Shoenfelt Sr.; three children: Cindy (Paul) Gallo, Becky McCourt and David (Sherry) Jr.; seven grandchildren: Dale (Mandi) Thompson Jr., Michelle Gallo, Ryan Thompson, Heather (Elijah) Eubanks, Brianna McCourt, Randy McCourt and Anthony Gallo; a great-grandson, Alexander Eubanks; eight siblings: Beverly Crabtree, Andrew Shuma II, Leora Hoffman, Bonnie Johnson and Robert, Marilyn, John and Kevin Shuma; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two siblings: Michael and Barbara Rose.
Joan was an active volunteer in Steven's Ministry and the church office at St. Mary Magdalene. She worked at Kmart for 17 years, loved water aerobics at the Willoughby YMCA and enjoyed her ladies' Tuesday night dinner. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at Monreal Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd., Eastlake, Ohio. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at St. Mary Magdalene, 32114 Vine St., Willowick, Ohio.
