Robert E. Hollopeter, 58, Sproul, died Tuesday at UPMC Altoona following an extended illness.
He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Calvin and Hazel (Helsel) Hollopeter. He married Linda Gardner.
Surviving are his wife; eight children: Jesse Gardner and girlfriend, Dina, of Altoona, Chucky Culbertson and wife, Gwen, of Huntingdon, Sherry Gardner of Roaring Spring, Gabriel and wife, Angela, of Altoona, Crystal Gardner of Roaring Spring, Jed and girlfriend, Dawn, of Altoona, Chastity of Duncansville and Jessica Vocheck and husband, Joey, of Duncansville; nine grandchildren: Cassie, Buddy, Josh, Hunter, Devin, Abigail, Trinity, Tayla and Russell; and three brothers: Richard, Dave and Doug.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Lingenfelter.
Robert was a self employed contractor for many years. As a child, Robert attended Albright Church of the Brethren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, horses and carpentry work. He was a member of the Tom Mix Rangers Riding Club in northern Pennsylvania and a volunteer firefighter with the Pennsylvania Department of Forestry.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring, where a funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. by Pastor Wayne Ayer. Interment will be made in Diehl's Crossroads Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the funeral home.
