James Donald Angus Sr., 85, Tyrone, died Sunday at UPMC Altoona after a brief illness.
He was born in Lock Haven, son of the late Henry Winters Angus and Beulah (Leventry) Angus. He married Beatrice Crites on Aug. 20, 1949, in Lock Haven.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters: Deborah Angus Holsinger of Altoona and Sharon Angus Brubaker of North East, Md.; a son, James Donald Jr. of West Chicago, Ill.; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Marion Angus Dougan of State College.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Winters Angus.
James was a 1946 graduate of Lock Haven High School and a 1950 graduate of Penn State University with a B.S. in hotel and restaurant management. He had been employed with Paine Webber in Altoona and was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg.
James also belonged to Rotary International, where he was a past president, Jaffa Shrine, Royal Order of Jesters and Jaffa Shrine Clowns and Highlanders. He had also served on the board of Altoona Hospital and as past president of the Altoona YMCA and was a certified financial planner. He enjoyed bagpipes, traveling, painting, fishing and camping.
Friends will be received from 2 until the 4 p.m. funeral service Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, the Revs. Dennis Derr and Dr. D.L. Brinton Shafer officiating. Interment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.
