Dr. Alton B. "Pete" Smith, 76, of Melbourne, Fla., passed away Tuesday.
He was born in Hollidays-burg.
Pete is survived by his beloved wife, Stevie; his children: April (Steve) Benfield and Thomas (Wendy); mother, Esther; sister, Mildred Foust; step-children: Richard (Debbie), Robert (Vanessa) and Ramona (Jesse); 10 grandchildren; and loving extended family.
He served his country honorably in the U.S Air Force and Army, retiring after more than 43 years of service.
Pete also retired from his second career as a counselor with the Brevard County and Oklahoma state school systems.
He had a great passion for model trains and was a member of the Model Railroad Club in Cocoa.
Friends will be received from 12 until the 3 p.m. service Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at Beach Funeral Homes, Indian Harbour Beach, Florida.
