Donald E. Albright, 88, Hollidaysburg, passed away Thursday evening at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.
He was born in Roaring Spring, son of Warren and Kathryn (Parsons) Albright. He married Esther J. Beegle on Aug. 17, 1946, in Frostburg, Md.
Surviving are his wife; four sons: Gary of Rockaway Beach, Ore., James of Hollidaysburg, Dave of Greensburg and Daniel of Stouchsburg; two daughters: Karen Longenecker and Lynn Albright, both of Hollidaysburg; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Robert and Ronald, both of Hollidaysburg.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard.
Donald was a 1943 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving in the 4th Division in WWII, and he witnessed the flag raising at Iwo Jima. He retired in October 1983 as a driver for Lafferty Trucking Co.
Donald was a member of Frankstown Park Missionary Church and Transport for Christ. He enjoyed working with stone.
Friends will be received from 2 until the 3 p.m. funeral service Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at Frankstown Park Missionary Church, Pastor Roland Cadle officiating. Interment will be in McIntyre Cemetery.
