Perry R. "Butch" DeNisi, 69, El Segundo, Calif., formerly of Altoona, passed away Wednesday at Altoona Center for Nursing Care.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Perry and Lodi (Marinucci) DeNisi.
Surviving are a sister, Carmella (Charlie) Liebal of Roanoke, Va.; two brothers: Ron (Carol) of Wexford and Samuel (Janet) of Enola; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Lucy Schultz and Nettie Thompson.
Perry was a graduate of Altoona High School, where he was awarded Boy of the Year, and a graduate of Penn State University with a degree in physics. He was employed as an engineering sales representative for IBM and was the proprietor of Perry's Pizza in Los Angeles, Calif., and Hawaii with 31 locations.
Perry had a passion for music and playing his clarinet in the Palos Verdes Symphonic Band and various other bands in California. He was also instrumental in getting over 2,000 children interested in music and reviving the El Segundo School District music program from a few members to over 90 members currently.
Friends will be received from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
