Quentin E. "Ken" Johnson, 94, formerly of Antis Township, died Monday evening at Valley View Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Philipsburg, son of the late Fred G. and Lena R. (Dubbs) Johnson. He married Betty A. Bohn on Jan. 27, 1939, in State College, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 18, 2001.
Surviving are two sons: Larry E. of Antis Township and Dennis Q. of Tyrone; a daughter, Diane M. (Don) McClellan of Tipton; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Marlyn Johnson of Dayton, Nev.; and a sister, Leatrice Davis of Hatfield.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy L. Thompson; a daughter-in-law, Joanne E. Johnson; a granddaughter, Tammy E. Zimmerman; two brothers; and three sisters.
Ken retired Oct. 29, 1979, as a foreman/carpenter at Johnson Brothers Builders, Tipton, after 19 years of service. He had also been employed as a machinist at Shutte & Koerting Co., Bristol. He was a charter member of the AFLCIO.
Ken was a baseball fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, and he enjoyed camping, traveling in his RV and feeding birds with his birdfeeders. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, the Rev. Arthur Shotts officiating. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
The family suggests that contributions in Ken's memory be made to a charity of individual choice.
