David M. "Butch" Litzinger, 65, Altoona, passed away Tuesday at his residence after a brief illness.
He was born in Altoona, son of Morgan and Joan (Fogle) Litzinger. He married Carole Ricche on June 13, 1970.
Surviving are his parents; his wife; two children: David A. (Dawn) of Altoona and Diane Litzinger and fiance, Ryan Heuston, of Roaring Spring; three grandchildren: Morgan, Preslee and Jadie; a brother, Tom (Mary Ellen) of State College; four sisters: Cheryl Cherry and Susan Litzinger, both of Altoona, Jane Carey (Pete) of Ashville and Donna Cole (Jon) of Columbus, Ohio; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Butch was a 1966 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from Stroehmann Bakery after 35 years of service and, after his retirement, he worked as a consultant for Stroehmann Bakery. He was known as a great handyman and was always willing to help family and friends with their projects.
Butch was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, cooking for his family and friends, going to Pitt football games and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 12, 2013, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church by Monsignor Michael Becker. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
