Grace L. Smith, 90, Roaring Spring, died Saturday at home.
She was born in Ormenia, daughter of the late Winifred and Fannie Kifer. She married William R. Smith on Aug. 5, 1942. He died on July 11, 1999.
She is survived by a daughter, Betty L. Carnicella of Altoona; a son, Willis R. Smith of Pepperell, Mass.; six grandchildren: Brenda Diehl, Brett Geibel, Bonnie Wills, Mark Smith, Leslie Smith and Maria Kratzer; numerous great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and two sisters: Caroline Merritts and Betty Lynn.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
Grace was a member of the Bare Memorial Church of God where she played the organ and piano for many years.
She had worked as a nurse's aide at Nason Hospital for many years and had received her LPN license.
She was a graduate of Morrison Cove High School.
Grace loved the Lord, serving her church, her family, music, and gardening.
She had volunteered at Nason Hospital and American Red Cross blood drives, and in 1994 she had received the living treasure award from the Borough of Roaring Spring for her dedication and service to the town of Roaring Spring.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Bare Memorial Church of God by Pastor Mark Halliday. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Roaring Spring.
