Geraldine G. "Gerry" Wiedemann, 90, Altoona, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday evening at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Frederick J. and Emma S. Endres. She married Richard M. Wiedemann on Feb. 26, 1943, at Calvary Baptist Church, Altoona, and he preceded her in death on May 3, 2001.
Surviving are three sons: Allen and wife, Ardy, of Duncansville, Van and wife, Sandi, of Duncansville and Cal and wife, Carol, of Altoona; a daughter, Connie Brown and husband, Barry, of Altoona; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Esther.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Jean; and a grandson, Rob Mauk.
Gerry was a 1941 graduate of Altoona High School. During her working years, she worked in the Altoona High School cafeteria office for a year, was a bookkeeper for Myers Bros. Florist for more than three years, was employed in the Wissinger's office for seven years and was office manager at Jubilee Foods for 13 years.
Gerry was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 30 years, was a youth leader for 18 years and sang in the choir for 55 years. She was also involved in a ministry working with hurting people for 25 years and Youth for Christ for nine years. She loved singing with her husband in church and with a ladies' trio.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at Calvary Baptist Church, 810 Ruskin Drive, Altoona, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday with Cal Wiedemann officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery.
