Eldon H. "Ike" Shaw, 90, Duncansville, passed away Monday at UPMC Altoona after an extended illness.
He was born in Newry, son of the late Harry B. and Pearl (Smith) Shaw. He married his childhood sweetheart, Gertrude Spidle, on Dec. 21, 1943, in Newry.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 70 years; four sons: Barry E. and wife, Pat, Gary D. and wife, Jonetta, Dennis C. and girlfriend, Lee Ann, and Douglas E. and fiancee, Rosemary Malone; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters.
Ike served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was the owner of Shaw Motors, Duncansville. He was a former member of Newry Lutheran Church and a current member of First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg, and he also belonged to the Jaffa Shrine Motor Corps and Duncansville VFW.
Ike enjoyed hunting, traveling out West and winters in Florida.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, Pastor Wayne Ayer officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard, and interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or American Diabetes Association.
