Florence C. Simpson, 83, formerly of Washington, Pa., died Friday evening at Homewood at Martinsburg, following a brief illness.
She was born in Washington, Pa., daughter of Ernest and Mary (George) Caputo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack P. Simpson, on Dec. 5, 1955.
She is survived by two sons: Doug J. and wife, Joan, of Bedford and Daniel and wife, Melody, of Key West, Fla.; and two grandsons: Jeremy and Devin.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Priscilla Wells; a brother, George; and an infant sister, Thelma.
Florence was a second grade teacher in the Washington school district for 35 years.
She was a life member of CMA Church, Washington, where she taught Sunday school. She loved her God, her grandchildren, her second grade students and animals.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home by Pastor Roland Cadle. Interment will be at Presbyterian Cemetery, Williamsburg.
