Mrs. Nellie M. Pacovsky, 94, Altoona, passed away Friday morning at her residence, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late John and Mary (Banko) Prugar. She married Stephen A. Pacovsky on May 8, 1943, in Altoona. He preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 1974.
Nellie is survived by two daughters: Therese (James) Roberts of Severna Park, Md., and Joan Sweeda of Altoona; a son, Stanley J. (Bonita) Pacovsky of Altoona; five grandchildren: Gina, Stephanie, Jimmy, Stanley Jr. and Francis; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pauline Maier of Altoona.
She was preceded in death by her son, Stephen P. Pacovsky in 2010; and her brothers: Peter, Walter and Joseph Prugar.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Prior to retiring at the age of 79, she was a cafeteria worker for the Altoona Area School District. Prior to that, she worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and also at Schwartzbach Silk Mill.
Nellie loved gardening, playing bingo, cooking and enjoying her family; especially her grand and great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Fifth Avenue and 14th Street, Altoona, by Monsignor Timothy Stein. Committal will be at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
