Charles "Chick" Ferry, 87, Altoona, passed away Tuesday at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Brookes Mills, Hollidaysburg, son of the late Charles and Mary (Lodge) Ferry. He married Lois J. Neuhart on Oct. 23, 1953, in Cumberland, Md., and she died Oct. 29, 2000.
Surviving are two sons: Larry (Suzanne) of Altoona and Daniel (Sue) of Eldridge, Iowa; six grandchildren: Christopher, Sarah, Benjamin, Joyce, Diane and Elizabeth; two great-grandchildren: Nicholas and Maysen; a sister, Louise Spencer of Manns Choice; and a brother, Ralph of Brookes Mills.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Alfarata and Madeline; and three brothers: Donald, Logan and Jim.
Chick attended Hollidaysburg schools. He worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and retired from Texaco as a truck driver. He was a member of Christ Community United Methodist Church, and he loved going to Altoona Curve baseball games and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, at Santella Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, by Pastor Peter Raser. Committal will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Christ Community United Methodist Church, 5715 Roselawn Ave., Altoona, PA 16602; Blair Senior Services Inc.; or American Heart Association.
