Deanna J. "Banana" Bendon, 74, Tunnelhill, died Monday at UPMC Altoona.
She was born in Spangler, daughter of the late John and Genevieve (Volk) Stevens. She married Raymond "Poge" Bendon on Feb. 16, 2001.
Surviving are her husband; five children; Colleen (Larry) Durkay of Gallitzin, Patrick McConnell (Carla) of Anchorage, Alaska, Molly Krawczyk of Gallitzin, Kathleen (James) Paul of Altoona and Maureen (Matthew) Keller of Millsboro, Del.; seven grandchildren: Tanya (Chad) Witmer, Zachary McConnell, Ian McConnell, Joseph Krawczyk, Chad Krawczyk, Brock Nagle and Kurtis Keller; and two great-grandchildren: Natalie and Peyton Witmer.
She is also survived by five siblings: John "Jack" (Myra) Stevens of Everett, Gerald "Hirk" (Patty) Stevens of Cresson, Harriet "Mickey" (Joseph) Stevens of Loretto, Owen "Bucky" (Tracey) McConnell of Gallitzin and Terrance McConnell of Gallitzin.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond "Razor" McConnell; an infant sister, Colleen; and a granddaughter, Kylie Krawczyk.
Deanna formerly was employed as a cook at the Altoona Center. She was a member of St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing bingo, going to the casinos, gardening, reading, the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers and watching golf.
There will be a private visitation for the family with committal in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
