Anthony "Chumpa" Sorichetti, 65, Finleyville, formerly of Gallitzin, died Wednesday at St. Clair Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Pasquale and Victoria (Dobrowalski) Sorichetti.
Surviving are two daughters: Toni Sorichetti and fiance, Shannon Kratzer, of Pittsburgh and Aimee (Brian) Gailey of Gallitzin; five grandchildren: Brendan Scanlan, Bryan Scanlan, Lakyn Kratzer, Chase Sorichetti and Nevaya Hoover; five siblings: Alphonse (Millie) of Cresson, Patsy Jr. (Carol) of Altoona, Roseann (Bill) Murray of Wooster, Ohio, Robert of Lilly and Charlene (Ed) Stahura of New Stanton; an aunt, Connie Julian of Gallitzin; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Chumpa was a 1966 graduate of Gallitzin High School and retired as a welding inspector for Norfolk Southern. He was a member of Summit Country Club, Cresson, and South Park Country Club, Pittsburgh. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing golf, hunting, Pittsburgh Pirates baseball, trains and cooking.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church St., Gallitzin, where a vigil service will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin, the Rev. Albert Ledoux as celebrant. Committal will be in St. Patrick Cemetery.
