James E. "Jimmy" Orr, 67, Altoona, died Monday at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, after a brief illness.
He was born in Milwaukee, Wis., son of the late Myron and Margaret (Snyder) Orr. He married Bonita Weamer on May 7, 1966, in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Eric and wife, Renee, of Duncansville; a daughter, Kelly Moyer and husband, Donny, of Altoona; three grandchildren: Cheyenne, Ayrika and Braydon; two great-grandchildren: Baile and Brody; three brothers: Robert of Pooler, Ga., Richard of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Jack of Melbourne, Fla.; and five sisters: Helen Deshazo of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Joan Best of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Nancy Cain of Shippensburg, Carol Badali of Bealeton, Va., and Shirley Edwards of Little River, S.C.
He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Paulette Butler of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Ed Weamer of Hollidaysburg; numerous nieces and nephews; his best friend, Mike Fleck; and four men who were like sons: Bill Ratchford, Jimmy Mincin, Steve Huber and Mark Partner.
James graduated from Altoona High School in 1965 and attended Penn State Altoona. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve, and he retired from the Altoona Police Department and Blair County as an officer of the court. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and also belonged to the Bavarian Aid Society, Cesare Battisti Club, St. Stanislaus Kostka Brotherhood and Fraternal Order of Police Mountain City Lodge 8.
James enjoyed golf, bowling, playing poker and sports.
A funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.
