Phyllis M. Walker, 93, formerly of Tipton, passed away on Friday at Epworth Manor, Tyrone.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Ira D. and Myrtle (Turley) Parsons. She married Pastor H. Wayne Walker on Nov. 11, 1939, in Altoona. He died on April 10, 1988.
Surviving are three daughters: Judith A. Bonawitz of Columbus, N.J., Linda L. Greene of Altoona and Deborah J. Sprankle of Tyrone; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister: Virginia Hunter of Duncansville.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Stairs; a brother, Daniel; and a sister, Shirley.
Phyllis retired as a preschool teacher at Mrs. Walker's Preschool at Calvary Baptist Church, Altoona, after 45 years. She was a member of Tipton Baptist Church and an artist.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at Tipton Baptist Church, with Pastor Dan Woodring officiating. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Cemetery, Altoona.
The family suggests that contributions in Phyllis' memory be made to Tipton Baptist Church School Scholarship Fund.
