Marjorie K. "Margie" Hetrick, 72, formerly of Martinsburg and Roaring Spring, passed away late Wednesday morning at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg after an extended illness.
She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late G. Elvin and Ella Marie (Butler) Riley. She married R. Edward Hetrick on March 10, 1972, in Roaring Spring, and he passed away on July 2, 1995.
Surviving are a daughter, Jamie L. Svitana and husband, Stephen, of East Freedom; two sons: Kevin L. Stern and wife, Veronique, of Duncansville and Marty A. Stern and wife, Carol, of Hollidaysburg; four grandchildren: Sean Svitana and wife, Brittany, Jeremy Svitana and Kristopher and Erik Stern; and a great-granddaughter, Amelia Svitana.
Margie was a 1959 graduate of Roaring Spring High School and also a graduate of the Altoona School of Commerce. She retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Bureau of Employment Security after 30 years of service as an employment interviewer. She was an active former member of the Altoona Business and Professional Women's Club.
Margie loved spending time with family and friends and also enjoyed watching movies, traveling and dancing.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, in the chapel at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, Pastor Richard J. Harter officiating. Private interment will follow at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be given to the Presbyterian Village Benevolence Fund.
