Frederick Franklin "Fritz" Troxell, 80, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, passed away Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013. He was born in Altoona.
Surviving are five children from his first marriage: Terry (Mike) Kelley, Paul (Pam), Allison (Charles) Nettle, Eric (Maryjo) and Matthew (Julie); his wife, Carol, and their children, Justin (Tatione) and Zach; three stepdaughters: Debi (Chris) Gengler, Sherry (Don) Williams and Lisa (Greg) Glover; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Lois Putt and Anna Miller.
He was preceded in death by four brothers: Lamont, John, Robert and Richard; and a sister, Vera Claire.
Fred was a graduate of and played football for Altoona High School. He and his former wife, Dona, moved from Altoona to Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, where they resided for many years. Fred eventually moved to Jackson Township, spending the last two years in Canton, Ohio. He served his country as a U.S. Marine before retiring from Ford Motor Co. after 44 years of service.
Fred coached peewee football for the Cuyahoga Falls Falcons, taking a championship team to Florida and winning the Snapper Bowl. He enjoyed his beloved camp, hunting, boating, golfing and most of all spending time with his family.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013. Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
