John Kohan, 88, Martinsburg, formerly of Johnstown, died Sunday at The Village at Morrisons Cove.
He was born in Hungary.
Surviving are three sons: Hans and wife, Ruth (Wingard), Peter and wife, Susan (Irion), and George and wife, Sue (Ream); eight grandchildren: Julie Wenklar and husband, Patrick, Jennifer Porta and husband, Robert, Gregory Kohan and wife, Maria (Algeri), Andrew Kohan and wife, Lynne (Boucher), Jonathan Kohan and wife, Brandi (Wert), Kristen Graybill and husband, Jered, Emilee and Neil; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary in Hungary; as well as a dear friend, Edith Wineland of Martinsburg.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise, on Dec. 1, 1984; and a brother.
John was a lifelong railroader with many years of service with the Canadian National Railway and Conrail. He retired in 1990 from Conrail as a track supervisor. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed spending time in the woods doing what he loved best.
Friends will be received from 9 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., Johnstown, Pastor Kim Swindell officiating. A private graveside service will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
