Kenneth Warren Irvin, 91, Altoona, died Saturday afternoon at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Houtzdale, son of the late Aden C. and Frances E. (Buckwalter) Irvin. He married Mary Elizabeth Shuttleworth on March 16, 1947, in Houtzdale, and she preceded him in death on June 20, 2013.
Surviving are a foster son, Marlin Taylor and wife, Candace, of DuBois; a nephew, Paul William Shuttleworth and wife, Nancy, of Butler; and a niece, Eilene Rounce of Pittsburgh.
Ken was a 1939 graduate of Woodward Township High School and a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He retired as a trainman from Conrail in 1981 after 40 years of service.
Ken was a member of Jaggard First United Methodist Church, Altoona; Osceola Mills Lodge 515, F&AM; Valley of Altoona Consistory, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite; and the Jaffa Shrine, where he was a member of the Jaffa Railroaders. He also belonged to the Bavarian Aid Society, Concordia Society, Unter Uns and Swiss Rifle Club. He enjoyed gardening.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Oct. 22, 2013, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a Masonic funeral service will be held at 7 p.m.
Friends will also be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at the funeral home, the Rev. Charles Reinaker officiating. Interment will be made at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
