Barbara D. Treese, 68, Clappertown, rural Williamsburg, passed away late Friday afternoon at UPMC Altoona after a brief illness.
She was born in rural Williamsburg, daughter of the late Paul E. and Florence E. (Blough) Gorsuch. She married Larry A. Treese on June 4, 1966, in Newry.
Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Amy Smola and husband, Zach, of Duncansville; a son, Jeff, at home; a grandson, Tyler Smola; three sisters: Shirley Clabaugh of Duncansville and Shelvey Biddle and Betty Merritts, both of Williamsburg; and three brothers: Tom of Red Hook, N.Y., Bill of Williamsburg and Ed of Altoona.
Barb was a 1963 graduate of Central High School, Martinsburg. She was an active member of Royer United Methodist Church, rural Williamsburg.
Barb was primarily a homemaker, but was previously employed at Leidy's Greenhouse, rural Williamsburg, and also was a caregiver to many. She enjoyed biking, gardening, crafting and antiquing.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing; however, friends will be received from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at Royer United Methodist Church, with Pastor Gordon Trimer and Pastor George Mauk officiating. Interment will follow at Royer Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given in memory of Barb toward the purchase and placement of a bench on the Lower Trail, part of Rails to Trails.
