Gayle A. Davis, 70, Riggles Gap, passed away Wednesday at UPMC Altoona after an extended illness.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late John E. and Hazel I. (Dougherty) Davis. He was married to Roberta Hartman for 39 years.
Surviving are a sister, Amy J. Brehm and husband, Zenas, of Hollidaysburg; a special niece, Pam Huber; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Gayle was a 1960 graduate of Altoona High School. He retired in 2005 as the owner of Mr. Builder Construction Co. with 25 years of service. He was a member of Fourth Street Church of God, and he enjoyed antique cars and his animals.
Gayle was known for his uncanny sense of humor and his practical jokes. He always knew how to make people laugh, and he will be greatly missed. He was affectionately known by friends as "Aphid" and by family as "G-Ed."
Friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. today, Oct. 18, 2013, at Leslie E. Axe Funeral Home, 1520 Fourth St., Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at Axe and Santella Family Chapel, 1534 Fourth St., Altoona, by the Rev. Jon Neeley. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
