James N. "Jim" Leonard, 62, Duncansville, passed away Monday at UPMC Altoona after an extended illness.
He was born in Niagara Falls, N.Y., son of the late Donald and Gloria (Waite) Leonard.
Surviving are his wife, Peg (Maher); two stepchildren: Bobbi Jo Johnson (Bob) of Somerset and Billy Fagan (Kim) of Altoona; four special granddaughters: Annabella, Alivia, Brook and Samantha; five siblings: Richard (Della), Donald, Nancy (Ron) and Linda (Troy), all of Williamsburg, and Thomas in Virginia; and his mother-in-law, Joyce Maher, with whom he and Peg resided.
He had an extended family of many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jim was a 1969 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a journeyman painter with the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, Local Union 409, Greensburg.
Jim spent his free time watching NASCAR, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He was special to many people and will be missed by all who knew him.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 16, 2013, and from 9 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at Liebegott-Brown Funeral Home Inc., 1218 Fourth Ave., Duncansville, Pastor John D. Leatherman officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
