Donald R. Langer, 87, formerly of Altoona, died Saturday at Homewood at Martinsburg.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Ralph S. and Matilda (Dorman) Langer. He married Shirley M. Turk on Sept. 15, 1956, in Falls Creek.
Surviving are his wife of more than 57 years; a son, David B. (Eileen) of Lexington, Ky.; a daughter, Lynn E. (Karl) of Duncannon; and a granddaughter, Karen Little (Tyler).
Donald was a 1944 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1950 graduate of Penn State University. During WWII, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt as an aviation electronic technician's mate third class. He was a self-employed licensed architect for Donald R. Langer, AIA, PE, and also a licensed engineer.
Donald was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of Mountain Lodge 281, F&AM, Altoona Consistory and Jaffa Shrine. He had previously been a member of the Altoona Zoning Board, Altoona Area School Board, Altoona Area Public Library Board and Blair County Airport Authority.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., Pastor Jerry McCuller officiating. Entombment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
