Robert Byers Snively, 82 of Huston Township, rural Williamsburg, passed away early Sunday morning at The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg, after a brief illness.
He was born in Yellow Springs, Catharine Township, son of the late Joseph B. and Annie B. (McCall) Snively. He was twice married: first to Jennie E. Swaney on April 7, 1951, in rural Roaring Spring. She died on Aug. 5, 1970. He then married Alice E. (Snyder) Anderson on June 15, 1975, in Leamersville. She died on July 15, 2006.
Surviving are seven children: Dave Snively and wife, Tammy, Karen Mauk, Joe Snively and wife, Shirley, Audrey Snively, Cindy McGregor and husband, Jim, Wade Anderson and wife, Debra, and Bill Snively and wife, Elaine, all of the Morrisons Cove area; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald, of rural Roaring Spring; and two sisters: Hazel Houp of Woodbury and Betty Ann Smith of Venice, Fla.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda, in 1952; a son, Bob Anderson, in 1980; and a sister, Jean Shriner, in 2012.
Bob was a 1948 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg.
He was a longtime dairy farmer on Piney Creek, Huston Township, but was also formerly employed as a truck driver for Owens Illinois, and also as a maintenance man at the former Morrisons Cove Home, Martinsburg.
Bob was a member of Curryville Church of the Brethren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at Curryville Church of the Brethren, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, with Pastor David R. Stiles officiating. Private interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family prefers memorial contributions be given to Curryville Church of the Brethren memorial fund, or to the local charity of your choice.
