John M. Trusz, 84, Coalport, died Tuesday at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Coalport, son of the late Michael and Margaret (Gabor) Trusz. He was twice married, first to Jean Drass, who preceded him in death in 1983. He then married Jean (Kruise) Rydbom on May 26, 1984, in Newton Falls, Ohio.
Surviving are his wife, Jean; a daughter, Debbie Burns (Tom) of Independence, Ohio; two grandsons: Kevin (Katie) Burns and Brian (Catherine) Burns; three stepchildren: Diane Andrews (Pat) of Coalport, Karen Kutruff (Barrie) of State College and Randy (Linda England) Rydbom of Tipton; six step-grandchildren: Ryan Andrews (Nadia), Jared Andrews (Amy), Shannon Milligan (John), and Justin, Brad and Tyler Rydbom; and six step-great-grandchildren: Brendan, Dylan, Rylie, Harper, Luke and Caitlyn.
He is also survived by three siblings: Bob (Nancy) of Lordstown, Ohio, Margie Brown of Okeechobee, Fla., and Joe (Dottie) of Toano, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
John served as a paratrooper during the Korean War. He retired in 1991 from Copperweld Steel Co., Warren, Ohio, after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Basil Catholic Church, Coalport, and a life member of Coalport VFW.
John enjoyed hunting and playing bocce.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at Gibbons Funeral Home, Coalport, where a vigil service will be held Friday afternoon. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at St. Basil Catholic Church, Coalport, the Rev. Zab Amar as celebrant. Committal will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by Coalport VFW.
