CH’s Spaid in third after first day

UNIVERSITY PARK - Cambria Heights' Morgan Spaid finished in third place with an 88 on the first day of the District 6 Girls Golf Tournament on Wednesday at Penn State's White Course.

Penn Cambria's Madison Krug (91) is in eighth place, while Bellwood-Antis' Mallory Harold (92) is tied for ninth.

Bishop McCort's Kayla Orr (81) and Bellefonte's Kaitlyn Vogel (84) are first and second, respectively, in the standings.

The top three golfers advance to regional action on Oct. 16 at Tom's Run Golf Course in Blairsville.

Hollidaysburg, which is the only area program with a full team, is in third place in the Class AAA standings with 431. State College leads Bellefonte by 20 strokes, 371-391.

Golfing resumes with a shotgun start at 10 this morning.
