Dorothy J. Neil, 86, Altoona, formerly of Johnstown and Hollidaysburg, died early Monday morning at UPMC Altoona.
She was born in Johnstown, daughter of the late Harry L. and Minnie (Howard) Thomas. She married William F. Neil on Sept. 18, 1946, at Beulah United Methodist Church, Johnstown.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years; four children: Larry W. and wife, Diana, of Eckert, Colo., Brian L. and wife, Alyssa, of Sinking Valley, Sharon A. Sharp and husband, Ronald, of Harrisburg and Denise L. Gummo and husband, Ed, of Altoona; seven grandchildren: Kristiana Nold, Kim Eilmann, Jason Sharp, Deawna and Ashley Wyandt and Benjamin and Emily Neil; and three great-grandchildren: Zachary and Aulyvia Nold and Sydnee Pratt.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Thomas; and two sisters: Mary Gore and Mildred Wilson.
Dorothy was a homemaker and a member of the former Garden Heights United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the church choir. She also belonged to the Hollidaysburg and Cross Keys Golden Age Clubs. She enjoyed crafts.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Gilden Barton Funeral Home, 1401 Ninth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, by Pastor Dennis W. Derr. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
