John E. Morder, 79, Bellwood, passed away Monday afternoon at his home of natural causes.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Charles A. and Blanche M. (Nelson) Morder. He married Patricia A. Corey on Dec. 25, 1954, at First United Methodist Church, Bellwood.
Surviving are his wife; two sons: Richard E. of Strasburg, Va., and John C. (Karen) of Cresson; six grandchildren: Melinda (Jim) George, Jacob (Beth) Morder, Jennifer (David) Sagal, Kayla Morder, Andrew Morder and Trisha Morder; and four great-grandchildren: Judah, David, Lincoln and Christopher.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Storrs.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean conflict, and he retired from Butterick Co. in Altoona. He was a life member of the VFW Post 5201, Bellwood. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and do-it-yourself projects, and he especially loved attending all Bellwood-Antis High School sporting events.
A memorial service to commemorate John's life will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at Simpson-Temple United Parish, Altoona, the Rev. Denise Arpino presiding.
