Dorothy P. Carbalan, 97, Clearfield, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at The Fairways at Brookline, State College.
She was born in 1916 in Clearfield, daughter of the late Carl Leonard and Agnes E. (Halverson) Peterson.
Surviving are a son, Frank L. and wife, Joan, of Boalsburg; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many cousins in New York, New Jersey and Sweden.
She was the last member of her generation, having been preceded in death by a brother, Leonard E. Peterson.
Dorothy graduated from Clearfield Area High School and Strayer Business College, Washington, D.C. She had been employed with the U.S. Treasury Department, American Red Cross and Smithsonian Institution, all in Washington, D.C., and she retired as the Clearfield Borough secretary after 33 years.
Dorothy was a member of West Side United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Sunday School Class 7, and she served many years on the church's administrative board as secretary. She was a member of the Clear-Penn Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals. She was a former volunteer with the Clearfield County Historical Society, Clearfield Senior Center, Clearfield-Centre Counties Boroughs Association, Clearfield Hospital and the bloodmobile.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at West Side United Methodist Church, Clearfield, the Rev. Dr. Joleen A. Willis officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
