I am disappointed in the priority of graduation standards adopted recently by the Pennsylvania State Board of Education.
Implementation of the Civic/Government Standard is the last to be required after the other four; Algebra I, Biology, Literature and English composition. I feel it should be first.
Living in a democracy is learned, as are its workings. Exercising those rights and responsibilities are vital to the continuation of our nation as we know it.
Developing citizenship and imparting a thorough understanding of our government systems should be the paramount mission of our schools.
Every citizen should look forward to the first Tuesday after the first Monday of every November and appreciate the blessings that it offers.
