Edward T. Hrzic Sr., 92, Hollidaysburg, died Friday at his residence.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Thomas and Barbara (Pavlick) Hrzic. He married Rita Heintel on Feb. 12, 1945, in Altoona, and she preceded him in death on May 27, 1997.
Surviving are 14 children: Thomas (Judy) of Montoursville, Gerard (Carol) of Johnstown, Dennis (Debbie) of Mechanicsburg, David (Lonnie) of Altoona, Ronald (Sharon) of Altoona, Terrance (Sherry) of Medina, Ohio, Edward Jr. (Yvonne) of Greencastle, Patrick of Altoona, Joel of Hollidaysburg, Christine of Hollidaysburg, Peggy Rimbeck (Frank) of Altoona, Jeanne Reindl (Tom) of Altoona, Mark (Bridget) of McMurray and Shawn (Bonnie) of Loretto; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Amelia of Aliquippa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Zajac; and a brother, Joseph.
Edward was a 1939 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII, and he retired in 1982 from Verizon as a PBX installer. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altoona, and Telephone Pioneers.
Edward was an artist who enjoyed painting. He loved his family, reading, train rides and bird watching.
At the request of the family, there will be no public visitation. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Committal will be at St. Mary's Cemetery.
