Geraldine M. Meredith, 94, Tyrone and a guest at Epworth Manor, died Tuesday at the manor with her husband at her side.
She was born in Tyrone, daughter of Charles and Ora (Hardy) Fickes, and she was raised in the Abbie Keefer home. She was twice married, first to Homer Shildt, who preceded her in death, and then to John P. Meredith Sr. on May 1, 1971, who survives.
Also surviving are a stepson, Scott Meredith of Tyrone; a stepdaughter, Denise (Randy) Otto of Tacoma, Wash.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Loulla Little of Bald Eagle.
She was preceded in death by two sons: Richard and Michael Shildt.
Geraldine was a 1937 graduate of Tyrone High School and, prior to retirement, had been employed in the loan department of Keystone Bank. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.
Geraldine enjoyed fishing and camping at Gallitzin, Raystown Lake and the Thousand Islands. She loved her dog, Tootsie, graham cracker pie and peanut butter cookies.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, Pastor William P. Glunt officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
