Barbara Lou Vargo, 63, formerly of Hollidaysburg, passed away unexpectedly Monday morning at her Delaware residence.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of Lawrence and Ethel Woodring. She married James David Vargo on April 4, 1970, in Hollidaysburg.
Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Karen (Lloyd) Laudorn in California; a son, Bryan (Kirsten) in Georgia; four grandchildren: Ava and Soren Laudorn in California and Isabella and Emerson Vargo in Georgia; and two brothers: Ronald (Marcia) Woodring and Terry (Gail) Woodring, both in Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Diana Woodring.
Barbara was a 1968 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School and a 1970 graduate of Altoona Nursing School. She was a nurse for 35 years. She was of the Roman Catholic faith, and she loved her family and adored her grandchildren. She enjoyed swimming, reading, Words with Friends, cooking, knitting and "bear" hugs.
Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 211 Powell Ave., Cresson. Interment will be at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
