Virginia Elizabeth (Fickes) Rowe, 100, Altoona, died Wednesday at Elmcroft of Altoona Senior Living Community, Duncansville.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of Edward and Lettie (Baird) Fickes.
Surviving are two daughters: Carolyn Virginia Wladaver (David) of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Constance Nagoda (John) of Pittsburgh; eight grandchildren: Julie Wladaver, Donna Brandt, Keith Billotte, Deborah Jordan, Kevin Billotte, Melanie MacDonald, Carey Nagoda and Lauren Nagoda; 13 great-grandchildren: Abigail, Leo and Russell Brandt, Jarrett Fulmer, Justine, Ian, Luke, Morgen and Haley Billotte, Ryan Gearhart, and Keegan, Landen and Rowen MacDonald; and a special friend and caregiver, Robin Daus.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Billotte; and a sister, Mary Margorie Fickes.
Virginia was a 1931 graduate of Altoona High School, a 1935 graduate of Dickinson College and a graduate of the Altoona School of Commerce. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Altoona, and she enjoyed reading, the outdoors and especially her family.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, by Pastor Wayne Ayer. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
