It is absolutely absurd that an individual who is supposed to be "protecting" the citizens of our community is one causing a ruckus.
After reading the article published in the Altoona Mirror on Sept. 10, I am absolutely repulsed. When the city hires individuals such as Plummer, their intended job is to safeguard the public and prevent violence.
Plummer should be held to higher standards than the average civilian because he took an oath to serve and protect our community, which he failed to do.
He was paid as a public servant to uphold duties that he did not follow through with. These duties follow him whether he is in uniform or not. Therefore he deserves, at the least, to be temporarily suspended from active duty.
Not only did he violate his moral and ethical code, but he demoralized his reputation. Plummer accused the alleged victim of striking the bus with a bottle, which is why the fight started, but no other bystanders had reported seeing the alleged victim throw a bottle in the first place.
It is understandable that Plummer was supposedly "defending" himself, but why did he let it get that violent?
To top things off, it was stated that this isn't the first time Plummer has been linked with a violent act.
After repeated incidents with the most recent being the most severe, Plummer absolutely deserves, at the minimum, temporary suspension.
