Altoona gets by Lady Tigers

HOLLIDAYSBURG - Amanda Parish had 19 kills, Shannon Albright tallied 23 digs, and Jenna Abram logged 35 assists to lead Altoona to a 23-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-17 win over Hollidaysburg in high school girls volleyball Wednesday.

Altoona improved to 2-2, while Hollidaysburg dipped to 3-3. Rachel Sibold's nine service points led Hollidaysburg, which also got 15 kills from Elizabeth Yacobucci, eight kills from Alex Scheel, and seven service points from Sierra Kirsch.

JV: Altoona won, 25-20, 25-19. Miranda Rhodes had six service points, Rachel Gualdoni had four kills, and Hannah Civils had six assists for Hollidaysburg.

BG wins in four

SIDMAN - Bishop Guilfoyle hiked its record to 5-0 with a four-set win over Forest Hills, 25-12, 22-25, 25-21, 25-12.

BG was led by Annie Dombrowski (15 kills, 15 service points, 26 digs), Logan McIntosh (12 service points, 23 digs), Lindsie Welteroth (13 kills, 13 digs), Alexis Hicks (13 kills, four blocks) and Brynee Baughman (20 service points, 38 assists).

BG got singles wins from Katherine Nazaruk, Aston Dunkle and Brayley Lewis, along with doubles victories from Ashton Truby and Jess Boslet to go with one from Ally Stevens and Danielle Rudolph.

WINDBER - Jen Carthew managed to get a win at No. 1 singles for Chestnut Ridge, but the Lady Lions fell to Windber, 4-1.
