Helen M. Pescatore, 92, Altoona, passed away peacefully Wednesday at her home after an extended illness.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of Joseph and Teresa (Varlotta) Venturato. She married Charles L. Pescatore, and he died in May 2010.
Surviving are two daughters: Terri (Henry) Windle of Beaver and Jamie (Rick) Massaro of Altoona; five grandchildren: Erin (Don) McDowell, Christopher (Karen) Massaro, Travis (Judy) Windle, Matthew (Amanda) Massaro and Mark Windle; and six great-grandchildren: Tessa, Mia and Griffin McDowell, Samantha and Elizabeth Massaro and Reeves Windle. Helen was also looking forward to another great-granddaughter who is to be born in January.
She also is survived by a brother, Daniel (Pauline) Venturato of State College, and was preceded in death by four siblings: Rose Bongiorno, Lucy Sprouse, Angela Cataldo and Carl Venturato.
Helen was a 1939 graduate of Altoona High School and a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at St. Rose of Lima Church. Committal will be at Calvary Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Home Nursing Agency Hospice.
