Drose Miles Yothers Jr., 77, Tyrone, passed away peacefully Saturday at his home after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Drose M. Sr. and Marguerite (Gingerich) Yothers. He married Frances L. Givler on May 17, 1958, in Maryland.
Surviving are his wife; three sons: Randy of Sinking Valley, Jeff (Susan) of Warriors Mark and Mark (Sabrina) of Tyrone; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Natalie Yothers.
Drose retired from J.C. Orr Co. after many years as a carpenter and heavy equipment operator, and he then worked for Tyrone Township doing the same duties. He was a Jehovah's Witness and attended the Kingdom Hall of Altoona.
When you met with Drose, you could expect long conversations and stories of his travels and daily endeavors. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, traveling and a drive through Sinking Valley. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 9:30 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at Derman Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, Wayne Fink as speaker. Interment will be at Sinking Valley Presbyterian Cemetery.
