James A. Cooper Sr., 50, Hollidaysburg, died Sunday evening at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born in Altoona, son of Mary J. (Barroner) Cooper and the late Richard P. Cooper.
Surviving are his mother of Hollidaysburg; his former wife and best friend, Lily; a daughter, Lacy and fiance, Jason; two sons: James II "JJ" and Josh; a sister, Theresa L. Keith and husband, Ronnie; a brother, Richard P. Jr. "RJ"; a niece, Andrea; and a nephew, Derrike.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Tracy L.
James was a 1982 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School. He served in the Pennsylvania National Guard and was employed as a machine operator at Small Tube Products Inc. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg, and a life member of the Geeseytown Community Volunteer Fire Company.
James enjoyed fishing, geocaching and bowling.
A private service for the family will be held at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg. Friends are invited to a public reception at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at Geeseytown Community Volunteer Fire Company for fellowship and refreshments.
