UNIVERSITY?PARK - UCF coach George O'Leary was so impressed with Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg on Saturday it took some convincing to make him realize the Nittany Lion signal-caller just had been in college for a couple of months.
"He wasn't here in January. Are you sure? I think you're wrong," O'Leary said.
O'Leary finally accepted the reporter's word on the matter, but it just made his praise that much stronger.
"I think he's going to be outstanding," said O'Leary, who has coached with a pair of NFL teams in his long career. "He's got great poise. He can make all the different throws, and he keeps his vision downfield. And he really handles the clock well. He doesn't get flustered. For a true freshman, I think he's done a great job."
