Nancy L. Hamer, 79, Altoona, died Tuesday evening at UPMC Altoona surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Charles and Josephine (Crosovelt) Vaughn. She married Lawrence E. "Ted" Hamer, who died Jan. 30, 2004.
Surviving are two daughters: Karla K. Harkins (Tom) and Sherry L. Trickey (Don), both of Altoona; a son, Larry E. Jr. (Shelley) of Altoona; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five sisters: Betty Jane Mock, Doris Geiner, Joanne Davis, Barbara Park and Peggy Fochler.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Bob; and a sister, Shirley Beatty.
Nancy was a graduate of Altoona High School and retired as an assembler from SKF. She was a past president and member of the Bellwood United Veterans Home Association and a life social member of the Newburg Fire Company and Swiss Rifle Club. She was of the Protestant faith, and she enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Sept. 12, 2013, at Vincent J. Good Funeral Parlor, Bellwood, followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. by Rick Beatty. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery.
