Samuel P. Damico, 92, Altoona, passed away Friday at home. He was born in Altoona, son of Antonio and Mary (Dunio) Damico. He married Beatrice Kauffman, and she died May 22, 1970.
Surviving are three daughters: Patricia Getz of Tyrone, Sandra Halloran of Newark, Del., and Deborah (James) George of Bristow, Va.; two sisters: Maggie Sidler of Altoona and Ann Hosko of Warriors Mark; a brother, Joseph, of Vista, Calif.; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four siblings: Angie Damico, Rose Folcarelli, Connie Vellone and Frank.
Samuel served in the U.S. Navy as a gunners mate third class during WWII and retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad as a welder.
Samuel was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, with military honors to follow. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
