Mary Ann "Mimi" Feathers, 79, Altoona, died Sunday at UPMC Altoona, following a brief illness.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late James D. and Agnes B. (Ziegler) Clare. She married James R. Feathers on May 21, 1955, at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Surviving are her husband; and four children: Timothy Scott Feathers and former daughter in-law, Tammi, of Altoona, Randy P. Feathers and wife, Diane, Julia Lafferty and husband, David, of Annandale, Va., and Mitzi de Koning and husband, John, of Simpsonville, S.C. She was grandmother to nine grandchildren: Edward, Trey, Hanna, Alauna Ann, Michael and wife, Carolina, Bradley, Alexa Clare, Olivia and Jude. She was also blessed with a great-granddaughter, Lili. Additionally, surviving are her Uncle Jim and Aunt Marge Ziegler of Altoona.
Mary Ann was a 1951 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School, where she was involved with her class reunion committee, and an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She raised four children while her husband spent 22 years serving our country in the military. She was a volunteer at the St. Vincent DePaul Assumption Chapel Food Pantry, a member of the Unter Uns Ladies Auxiliary, the Bavarian Aid Society and the Swiss Club.
Mary Ann was a fan of all sports, especially BGHS girls' basketball, Penn State Athletics and the Altoona Curve. She loved her garden, spending time with her grandchildren, and was always actively engaged in their activities.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at St. Mary's Catholic Church by Monsignor Timothy Stein. Committal will be at St. Mary's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mary Ann may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Assumption Chapel Food Pantry, 1918 Juniata Gap Road, Altoona, PA 16601 c/o Don Belsey.
