Viola A. "Vi" Franchio, 90 of Greenwood, died Thursday at her residence unexpectedly.
Mrs. Franchio was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Ariste and Angeline (Massaro) Prosperi. She married Joseph R. "Rocky" Franchio on Sept. 9, 1941, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. He died on May 17, 2008.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews and was the last of her immediate family.
Vi was preceded in death by three siblings: Marjorie Evangelisto, Robert Prosperi and Juliet Roberts.
She was a member of Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Altoona.
She retired in 1982 as a looping machine operator at Puritan Sportswear with 32 years of service.
Mrs. Franchio was a 1941 graduate of Altoona High School.
She enjoyed her cat, knitting and crocheting and her family.
Friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at Jones Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Altoona. Committal rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
