Cletus B. Wavrek, 93, Johnstown, died Thursday at LaurelWood Care Center.
He was born in Johnstown, son of the late John and Veronica (Nagy) Wavrek.
Surviving are two sons: Skip (Julie Myers) of Richland and Scott (Anita Lang) of Altoona; a grandson, Scotty Wavrek; numerous nieces and nephews; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Rose Coyle, William (Sissy) Coyle, Richard (Joan) Coyle and Rita (Calvin) Beltz.
He is also survived by his fiancee, Patricia Croyle, who for many years was his friend, confidante and nurse. Clete was active in the lives of Pat's children: Bruce Croyle (deceased), Susan (Richard) Goshert, Pamela (Wayne) Shroyer, Steven (Claudine) Croyle and Jennifer (David) Gindlesperger; and her grandchildren: Nicholas, Matthew, Lauren, Maria, Kelsie, Hannah, Nathan, Michael, Brandon and Mark.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia E. (Coyle); a daughter, Rebecca; three siblings: Helen Whittemore, Andrew Vanglarick and Elizabeth Wavrek; and a brother-in-law, James Coyle.
Clete was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He retired from Hiram Swank Refractories and was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church.
Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where a vigil service will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown, Father Francis Balastino officiating. Committal will be at Grandview Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Pennsylvania Military Funeral Honors Program, Army National Guard.
