Linda L. (Diehl) Baker, 62, of Slabtown Road, Waynesboro, died Wednesday at Quincy Village, Waynesboro, after battling cancer for several months.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Ira S. "Pete" and Joan (Niswonger) Diehl. She married Joseph M. Baker on April 8, 1972, in Hollidaysburg. They moved to the Waynesboro area in 1995, and prior to that they had lived in Norfolk, Va.
Surviving are her husband; two sons: Michael J. and wife, Virginia, of Marion and Mark J. of Waynesboro; a daughter, Jeanine M. Biser and husband, Bryan, of Waynesboro; four grandsons; three granddaughters; two brothers: Dan Diehl of Altoona and Terry Diehl; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Diehl.
Linda was a 1969 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School. She worked as a customer service representative at First Data, Hagerstown, Md., until shortly before her death. She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Waynesboro, and earlier in her life she had been a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader. She also enjoyed coaching a youth bowling league.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, in St. Andrew Catholic Church, 12 N. Broad St., Waynesboro, by the Rev. John B. Bateman. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew Catholic School or to New Hope Shelter, 25 S. Potomac St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.
